The Index of Medieval Art is the largest existing database of medieval art, both image and text, for over 23,000 art works from early apostolic times to 1400. Includes manuscripts, metalwork, sculpture, painting and glass. Art works are classified according to medium, location, ownership, date, school, style, and subject. Bibliographic citations cover art history, archaeology, religious and classical studies. Contains over 60,000 images from Dumbarton Oaks, Morgan Library, Courtauld Institute, Princeton University and other collections. Images can be enlarged. Some are restricted from viewing due to copyright
