Requesting a book

It is possible to request a book only if all available copies are out on loan or if it has the status "waiting for reader" at the Circulation desk. It is not possible to request a book for a specific day. A book which is on the shelf cannot be requested.

Requesting a book is done through the DaTa system.

After you have located the item in the system, click on "Locations & Requests". Check if all copies of the book have been checked out. If so, click on "sign in to request", (it does not matter which copy). The system will require you to identify yourself with your user name, id number, and password. To check to see whether the request has registered, enter "Reader's card" and in the menu, choose "Requests".

When the requested book is returned to the library, an email notice is sent to the reader who requested it. It is the responsibility of the reader to check the Reader’s card  to check whether the book has arrived.

Requested items will be held at the circulation desk for a limited time:

  • A book from the regular collection will be held up to 3 working days

If you requested a book and no longer need it, please cancel your request. This enables another reader to borrow the book. To cancel such a request, please contact the Circulation Desk
